SEDCO Holding has taken another step in enhancing its corporate governance and ethical investment practices by establishing a Shariah Advisory Committee at the Board of Directors level. This Committee will provide valuable assistance to the Board as it works to fulfill its responsibilities and serve the interests of shareholders.
The Committee will review relevant SEDCO Holding governance documents regularly to make sure it stays in line with Shariah guidance and meets the expectations of shareholders and the strategic objectives. It will also ensure that SEDCO remains at the forefront of shariah matters relevant to the investment products and developments.
The Committee is composed of three highly qualified experts in Shariah regulations, specifically in the areas of investments, finance, and transactions. These experts bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.
Sh. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Qassar, Chair of the Committee, is an academic and researcher in the field of Sharia and Islamic Studies. He holds the position of Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Postgraduate Studies, and Research at Kuwait University and sits on multiple Shariah boards for financial and investment institutions in Kuwait and beyond.
Sh. Dr. Yousef Al Shubaily, a member of the Committee, has extensive experience serving on Shariah committees and boards across multiple financial and investment institutions in Saudi Arabia. He is also a respected member of the teaching staff at the Higher Institute for Judiciary in Riyadh.
Finally, Mr. Khalid A. Gama, another Committee member, CEO of Methak Investment Holding and has been serving as the internal Shariah advisor to SEDCO Capital for many years. He is highly knowledgeable about international financial transactions and advanced investment structures.
