Yusr International Schools has fulfilled its vision of establishing its schools as world-class, interactive and smart examples of academic excellence. Despite the global COVID-19 crisis forcing more than 850 million students around the world to stay at home, the education process continued for Yusr students thanks to the launch of the Yusr Virtual School platform just two days after the Ministry of Education directive to closing schools across the Kingdom.
The digital infrastructure deployed by Yusr International Schools places it at the forefront of efforts to ensure learning continuity, with smart E-learning classes, curriculums, and digital educational resources adopted since 2015 all playing a major role in the successful transition to home schooling. Yusr schools’ partnership with Google Education has created a virtual learning environment with high-quality interactive lessons and communication tools based on international specifications.
The E-learning system incorporates leading educational platforms such as G-Suite, Pearson Realize, Hodder Dynamic, BrainPop, Arabic Reading platform, Google Meet, Zoom, Fedena, and Follett Destiny. Accounts were created for students of all ages, with educational smart devices provided for those attending kindergarten to the third grade, and Chromebooks supplied for students from grades four to 12.
In line with its commitment to ensuring access to education for all of its students, the school’s Learning Disabilities Department also launched a virtual learning platform to serve students with conditions such as autism and Down syndrome through individually tailored sessions and learning plans.
To promote a learner-centric approach, Yusr schools created more than 360 classes covering a wide range of subjects. The interaction rate in most exceeded 90%, while the number of daily activities completed through learning materials shared with students reached almost 6,000. This included posting comments, solving homework, recording, and meditation.
Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Yusr Schools was able to achieve the requirements of the elementary program of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP), a curriculum designed for students aged three to 12 that focuses on developing children’s research skills in the classroom and beyond. Yusr regards parents as active and real partners in their children’s education, and worked on involving them in the teaching and learning process. It also held a virtual student-led conference and a fifth-grade exhibition PYP program.
Yusr International Schools is a private school operated under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and approved by AdvancED Organization, the largest educational organization around the world. Its world-class facilities around the Kingdom offer the ideal environment for teaching and learning. In 2017, SEDCO Holding invested with Yusr International Schools Company to effectively contribute to the development of the educational field in the local community.
