SEDCO Holding, a global leader in Shariah-compliant ethical investing and one of Saudi Arabia’s leading private companies, has joined the World Economic Forum (WEF), becoming part of a community of global firms helping shape the future.
Both SEDCO Holding and SEDCO Capital are joining the WEF as Associate Partners. The partnership will unlock SEDCO’s participation in high-profile events at home and abroad — such as strategic workshops with Saudi Arabia’s leadership, and large scale global events including the Davos World Economic Forum.
“SEDCO is very pleased to be part of the World Economic Forum. Our partnership will raise SEDCO’s profile on the global stage, and also open new doors of opportunity and advancement locally and internationally. It will help SEDCO share knowledge with its global partners and gain new insights in return. It is also a source of pride for us to be able to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the world stage,” said SEDCO CEO Hasan Al Jabri. “This is a shared achievement, made possible by our teams, legacy and triumphs. World Economic Forum Partners are leading global companies that spark solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, and we are very much looking forward to being part of the conversation.”
SEDCO Holding and SEDCO Capital are joining WEF’s Future of Investing Platform, which is dedicated to implementing stakeholder capitalism that enables the efficient allocation of capital and improves economic outcomes for all. The platform addresses three priority areas — governance, transformational investment, and ESG metrics — all of which historically have been strengths for SEDCO.
SEDCO is an ethical investing pioneer, combining Shariah principles with best practices in ESG. The organization has innovated its Prudent Ethical Investing (PEI) framework, which research shows can outperform conventional investments. And through this partnership SEDCO will share knowledge of PEI innovations and best practice with a wider audience.
Through its Family Council, SEDCO Holding will also be joining the WEF Family Business Community, which tackles challenges linked to agility, responsibility and family ecosystem. It connects prominent family businesses from across the globe to promote shared understanding of key issues affecting businesses, and promoting long-term economic and social value generation.
